Yeah, and given that I used to administer sendmail, I don't actually have a lot of interest in getting into another situation where I'm running patch-races. I've also seen a lot of highly ambitious university-designed code fail entirely to be scaleable or secure. Given the team's lack of track record, unfortunately the burden of proof is on them that they can design secure code, especially after they have proven that they didn't have security in mind on their first release, alpha or no. Alpha is immaterial to me.

I have been cautioning people about security when I give out invites, and I am not putting any data there that isn't mirrored elsewhere, but I still worry that someone might get stung.

(I do also wonder if it might be possible to give Dreamwidth display options that would make it more appealing to Facebook/Google+ refugees without breaking its essential nature.)
